Why Are Andrew And Tristan Tate Facing Extradition?

The Tate brothers were arrested in Miami on Saturday as British prosecutors announced they had decided to bring dozens of additional charges against both brothers, relating to four victims in incidents spanning 2010 to 2017. Britain’s Crown Prosecution Service charged Andrew Tate with seven counts of rape, three counts of sex trafficking, three counts of assault and 19 charges relating to “indecent images of a child and extreme pornography.” He had previously been charged on 10 counts including rape, bodily harm, human trafficking and prostitution. Tristan Tate faces six new charges: one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape and three counts of sex trafficking, adding to the 11 counts he was previously charged with, spanning rape, bodily harm and human trafficking. The Crown Prosecution Service requested extradition to prosecute the Tates. An unsealed complaint detailed alleged incidents in which the Tate brothers choked women, sometimes until they passed out, and raped them. The brothers appeared in a Florida court earlier this week, after which McBride told reporters they would fight the extradition request.
