What Happened At The Hearing Monday?<\/h2>\n

Bagley began his testimony by recounting the chaos after the shooting and his attempts to “preserve” the crime scene. Robinson\u2019s lawyer cross-examined the police officer and asked questions to sow doubt about whether Robinson was actually the shooter, such as asking Bagley whether there was a possibility that anyone else could have been on the rooftop before he got up there and whether he was able to identify characteristics of Kirk\u2019s shooter, such as his height. Kathryn Nester, Robinson\u2019s attorney, also noted that Bagley\u2019s body camera footage ended while he was on the roof, to which Bagley claimed the battery ran out and he was unable to get a new camera amid the post-shooting chaos. Investigator David Hull then testified about his experience leading the investigation, noting he was not familiar with Kirk or Utah Valley University before the shooting. Prosecutors used Hull to help authenticate videos of the shooting that they\u2019re admitting into evidence, after the investigator processed public footage of the shooting and spoke with people who took the footage. Robinson\u2019s attorneys also opposed video of Kirk\u2019s killing being included as evidence in the case, arguing it could unfairly prejudice a jury against him at trial, but the judge ruled the video was admissible as evidence.<\/p>\n

The hearing will continue for the rest of the week, and prosecutors are expected to submit some 50 pieces of evidence<\/u> in support of Robinson being Kirk\u2019s killer. It\u2019s still unclear when a ruling could come on whether a full trial will take place, and when Robinson could be tried if the court rules in prosecutors\u2019 favor.<\/p>\n

Charlie Kirk\u2019s family released a statement<\/u> ahead of the hearing Monday, saying, \u201cEvery court proceeding serves as a painful reminder of his death and the loss that has irrevocably impacted our lives and the lives of his children.\u201d The family expressed appreciation for the support they\u2019ve received and said, \u201cOut of respect for the judicial process, we will not be commenting further at this time. Kirk, who ran the right-wing organization Turning Point USA, was a major figure in the conservative movement before his September 2025 death, where he was shot while speaking at the university in Utah. Robinson was detained days later, after police released a photo of the suspect. Reports<\/u> in the days after Robinson\u2019s arrest suggest the suspect made comments online that appear to admit to Kirk\u2019s killing, writing in a Discord chat, \u201cIt was me at UVU yesterday. im sorry for all of this.\u201d Court documents also suggest Robinson texted<\/u> his roommate and romantic partner, who is transgender, about the shooting after it happened, confessing to the killing and writing, \u201cI had enough of his hatred.
