What Else Has Rogan Said About The Ufc White House Fight?<\/h2>\n

On his podcast earlier this week, Rogan called the event \u201codd\u201d and said, \u201cI don\u2019t like the idea of fighting outside at all.\u201d He suggested the weather could be too hot, noting the fight is scheduled for mid-June in Washington, D.C., and voiced concerns fighters could become dehydrated. He also questioned why the organizers would not build a roof, saying, \u201cHow are they going to f\u2014ing do anything about the bugs?\u201d Rogan, a frequent critic of the Iran war, said in a March podcast episode it is \u201cweird to have a fight at the White House in the middle of a f\u2014ing war.\u201d In another episode of his podcast in March, Rogan said he will \u201cbe there, but I\u2019m not thrilled about it,\u201d calling the event \u201ckind of a gimmick\u201d and a potential \u201csecurity nightmare.\u201d UFC president Dana White echoed some of Rogan\u2019s concerns about fighting outdoors in an interview with NPR last week, saying there are \u201cso many different variables\u201d that could impact the fight, like rain, lightning or heat. \u201cThere\u2019s two things I hate. I hate stadiums, and even worse than a stadium is fighting outside,\u201d White said. <\/p>\n

Ufc Fighters Respond To Rogan\u2019s Concerns<\/h2>\n

Sean O’Malley, an American UFC fighter who is slated to compete at the White House event, said in an interview Thursday it would be \u201cunfortunate\u201d if weather conditions impact the fight, but said \u201cnone of us signed the contract thinking it was inside. We all know it\u2019s outside, we all know what we\u2019re getting into.\u201d O\u2019Malley said it would \u201csuck\u201d to lose for reasons \u201coutside of your skill set,\u201d but said \u201cit\u2019s at the White House, so you\u2019ve got to deal with whatever you\u2019ve got to deal with.\u201d White has also defended the event against critics who have raised security concerns amid the Iran war, telling Rolling Stone the UFC \u201ccan\u2019t just bend and break and roll over for every bad thing that happens in the world.\u201d <\/p>\n

What Do We Know About The White House Ufc Fight?<\/h2>\n

The fight is slated to take place June 14, which is both Flag Day and Trump\u2019s 80th birthday, to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Construction of a 4,000-seat arena is underway on the South Lawn, while about 80,000 attendees are expected to watch the fight from The Ellipse, a park near the White House. White has said he personally invited celebrities including Adam Sandler, Tom Brady, Jared Leto, Dwayne \u201cThe Rock\u201d Johnson and Mario Lopez, but representatives for Sandler and Lopez confirmed to Forbes they will not attend. <\/p>\n

On Friday\u2019s episode, Rogan segued from discussing the White House UFC fight to criticizing the war in Iran, which he has often condemned on his show. Rogan said Trump does \u201cwild sh-t, I like that,\u201d referring to the UFC fight. \u201cI like that part. I don\u2019t like the Iran war thing,\u201d he said, adding, \u201cI don\u2019t necessarily know if there\u2019s a clear way to get out of this.\u201d Rogan has previously condemned the war as \u201cunnecessary aggression by the United States government\u201d and \u201cexactly the opposite of what we were told leading into this administration,\u201d voicing fears it would spark a World War III. <\/p>\n
