\u201cThe Odyssey\u201d became director Christopher Nolan\u2019s biggest global opening ever, raking in $264.1 million during its first weekend. The movie appears on pace to become Nolan\u2019s highest grossing movie ever, but it would need to beat \u201cOppenheimer\u201d ($975 million), \u201cThe Dark Knight\u201d ($1 billion) and \u201cThe Dark Knight Rises\u201d ($1.08 billion) to do so. Nolan, who has championed the IMAX format throughout his career, experienced similar success with \u201cOppenheimer\u201d in premium formats in 2024, when IMAX extended the biographical thriller\u2019s 70mm showings twice.
