rogan rumors follow \u201c60 minutes\u201d in turmoil<\/h2>\n

Pelley was fired Tuesday after a staff meeting<\/u> in which he reportedly confronted Bilton, accusing him of having \u201cslender\u201d qualifications for his new role as executive producer while also questioning the previous firings of some of the program\u2019s producers and correspondents. After Bilton claimed Weiss \u201cloves this institution,\u201d Pelley replied, \u201cShe is murdering \u201860 Minutes,\u2019\u201d claiming she was \u201cbrought in to kill it.\u201d Pelley reportedly met with Weiss, Bilton and CBS News president Tom Cibrowski on Tuesday, though Pelley said they refused to answer his questions about firing longtime staffers and \u201cstonewalled for about 10 minutes.\u201d In a meeting with the CBS newsroom after Pelley\u2019s firing, Weiss said<\/u> she and her staff tried to \u201cengage with Scott Pelley and to find a way back,\u201d but \u201cunfortunately we weren\u2019t able to do so.\u201d Weiss said she did not want to part ways with Pelley, but said \u201cthat\u2019s the path that he chose.\u201d Pelley accused Weiss of lying to her staff in the Wednesday morning newsroom meeting, and blasted CBS News leadership as being \u201copenly hostile from the start\u201d when he met with leaders Tuesday. \u201cAt no point did anyone in the Tuesday meeting suggest that there could be steps taken by either side that would lead to a resolution,\u201d Pelley said<\/u>.<\/p>\n
