What Do We Know About The Recordings?<\/h2>\n

In the filing, Biden\u2019s attorneys note that the recordings and transcripts of the former president\u2019s \u201cprivate, sensitive conversations with his writing partner, Mark Zwonitzer, which took place at President Biden\u2019s home in 2016 and 2017.\u201d The DOJ obtained these materials in 2023 after the special counsel probe was opened. The filing adds that Biden \u201ccooperated fully in that investigation, and the Special Counsel ultimately concluded that criminal charges were not warranted.\u201d The attorneys also argue that when the DOJ obtains private information for a criminal investigation, \u201cthe Department bears a particular responsibility to protect it from disclosure.\u201d<\/p>\n
