U.S. District Judge Christopher R. Cooper ruled Tuesday evening the Kennedy Center must inform the court of the \u201cstatus of plans for the Kennedy Center construction project\u201d by Friday. The center must also detail what steps it has taken to make plans for \u201cpublic access and ongoing programming, activities, and operations after July 5, 2026.\u201d It\u2019s unclear whether the order is specifically requesting information about the tarp blocking the sign. Part of Cooper\u2019s original ruling in May blocked the center from closing for two years of renovations beginning in July, as Trump had advocated for. His ruling said the center\u2019s decision to close was \u201cill-informed and seemingly preordained,\u201d saying the board decided to close based on an \u201cinsufficient, one-sided presentation of information\u201d that failed to consider the center\u2019s \u201cstatutory obligations\u201d and the potential consequences of closing for so long. The Kennedy Center\u2019s calendar for July and beyond is sparse, with events largely relegated to the weekends. Most of the events on the calendar for this summer are film screenings, with a performance by the National Symphony Orchestra planned for July 26.<\/p>\n
